Event Description

TEDxWallStreet is a new high profile, not for profit effort that is having its first event on March 30th at the NYSE.

Our goal is to create an exciting new platform for the best and brightest minds to present the most intriguing ideas out of Wall Street.  

So far, we have announced 10 exciting speakers and another 4 or so will be announced in the coming weeks.  The 10 that we have announced so far are:

 

-- Jim Cramer -- Host of CNBC’s “Mad Money,”  Co-Anchor of “Squawk on the Street”

 

-- David Blood – Co-Founded Generation Investment Management with Al Gore where he is Managing Partner, Former CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Member of Board of Trustees of Acumen Fund and SHINE.

-- Don Tapscott -- Leading authority on innovation and on the social impact of technology, Ranked 9th in 2011’s Thinkers50 of the world’s top business thinkers.  International bestselling author of Macrowikinomics and Grown Up Digital.

-- Scott Shay – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Signature Bank since its inception, Managing Director of Ranieri & Co., Partner of Hyperion Partners.

 

-- Jeff Stewart – Global CEO of Lenddo, Serial entrepreneur–founder of 6 tech ventures including Mimeo.com, Monitor 110, Urgent Career and Square Earth.  Founder of VC investment groups Geometric Group and Urgent Ventures. 

 

-- Sergio Fernandez de Cordova  – Founder of Fuel Outdoor, Chairman of the Board of New York Entrepreneurs Week, On Dell’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence Advisory Board, On the UN’s Global Entrepreneurs Council

 

-- James Altucher  -- Columnist for Financial Times, Author of SuperCa$h, Founder of Stockpickr LLC, Managing Partner of Formula Capital

 

-- Dan Ariely  (pre-recorded TEDTalk) -- James B. Duke Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics, bestselling author of Predictably Irrational and The Upside of Irrationality

 

-- Halla Tomasdottir  (pre-recorded TEDTalk) – Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Audur Capital, was Founder and Director for executive education and women entrepreneurship at the Reykjavik University Foundation

 

-- Witness Uganda: The Musical Movement  “Is changing the world even possible” -- Set against the backdrop of the economic catastrophes of 2008, Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews who are award winning writers and actors will put on a 10 minute performance employing the use of pop-rock and world music from their play that investigates the responsibility that entrepreneurs and non-profits have toward philanthropy.

 

The audience at the NYSE will consist of approximately 300-350 prominent NYC influencers.  60 of these will be invited directly by the NYSE consisting of their guests from their top listed clients.  The remainder of the audience will consist of a carefully selected mix of TED fans, bankers, money managers, research analysts, finance professors etc.   The Talks from our conference will reach millions of people around the world who will be able to watch them on our web site (www.TEDxWallStreet.com) and on the main global TED site (www.TED.com).  The speakers are going to ring the Closing Bell at the Exchange on that day and then we will have a full reception on the NYSE trading floor.
